No on can find the source of the problem and BMW will not admit to a problem as they have been sued for this issue in the past. The owner of that 318 should sell that car as soon as possible or replace the ECU; otherwise he could be facing fatal consequences the next time it happens. And at the very least he should install an Event Data Recorder before driving the vehicle again. At least this way the application of brakes would be recorded as “evidenceâ€? rather than just “here sayâ€? on the part of the driver. If it were me; I would have killed the ignition.
