Toyota is going to roll right over GM. California is usually a good reference for what the rest of America is up too in the next few years and it looks like the imports are unstoppable.

well said CTS DRIVER. For the most part i buy imports only because for the money, it usually is a better choice. When I buy cars i try to ignore that whole buy America, or buy import ****. I figured I will buy the best product. I believe that it is best for me to think of the automotive industry as a survival of the fittest sort of situation. I try to be blind on whether or not a car is imported or not. Although if i cant make my mind i will choose American. I also look for good deals.

Being that California is pretty much a precursor to what the rest of America does, then this wave of import recognition should spread across the landscape. And when Toyota finally topples GM’s WAY UNDESERVING reign at the top, they will be unstoppable.

If they continue investing in this country while our friends up in Detroit continue growth in other parts of the world while abandoning the US market then so be it. Let Toyota win.

Maybe in another 30 years, People will forgive the 3 decade + worth of crap dumped on the American public by GM and to a lesser extent the other domestics. Although then they’ll have to contend with the fact that they are no longer American but Chinese, Korean or whereever they choose to set up headquarters.

liberals excuse is change for the better, but they its a political pipe dream, lets turn america into some drug using, teenage pregnancy, vegetarian queer country that sues everybody and hates its self and refuses to use the same logic that a car company can change.only politics can change? conservitaves have their heads so far up their own asses they cant see straight enough to not destroy a good company by not looking to the future. just pick a damn car and shut the hell up, they are all so basically close it dont matter anymore. the lexus i drove before i bought the cts was absolutely awesome, i chose the better value and almost 100000 trouble free miles i chose correctly. pick what you like, not what some 12 year old on the internet says to pick.

hey, at least you’re not in brazil (everything is import here!) well, except for ford, chevy, vw, fiat, and some others…toyota and nissan are here too, but import an american toyota it’s cheaper than buying one here. plus their choices of cars are few, and only directed to the low-wealth (wich, unfortunately, makes 85% of the country)

When I was in West Sonoma County this summer I lost count of the number of Volvo station wagons and Priuses (Prii?). It was amazing to see how few domestics there were compared to Pennsylvania.

Although there were plenty of El Caminos too.

I swore I’d always buy American, but when I graduated from the University and entered the real world and practical concerns trumped emotion, I sold my ‘92 Z28 and bought a new civic. It is far and away the best appliance for basic transportation available to man.

Once I can afford something more than basic transportation I will be trading the Civic for an ‘09 Camaro, or a Corvette, or a CTS, or some other RWD performance car from GM. But at this juncture its stupid to buy anything but a Civic or Accord in their respective price categories, because Honda (and I guess Toyota) have the market cornered on quality and resale value.

I think GM in particular is making some headway on improving their product, but its not quite there yet. Once it is up to par, it will then take some time to build a reputation. I think they can, and I hope they will. This news from Cali is most unwelcome.

So 14.2% of California drive the other imports- Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari.
(Hollywood set)- or Korean brands (Hollywood set’s assistants)
