Oh no! The Japanese are supposed to be the most industrious and tenacious business people in the world (they are the size of California but have the 2nd highest GDP in the world.) This does not bode well...

shaver - you cannot be more wrong. If you think that the American economy is fukked, look at Japan's OUTLOOK.

Yea, yea, South Korea and Japan and a few other Asian countries that listened to us after the mid-century wars became democratic and capitalistic, free-market economies. So they succeeded, growing economically and in population year after year.

But today Japan is a stagnant economy. It is going at a sail's pace and has nowhere to go but down. Why? I blame fertility problems. The population is declining in that by 2050, there will be a ratio of 1 worker for every 5 retirees. Meaning that those 5 people who no longer work will be supported by one working adult. You can bet that Japanese output is set to reach record lows decade after decade in the future. The age pyramid is supposed to look like this: /\ with many young people at the bottom and less and less old people as the age increasing up the pyramid. It will look like this in 2050 though, \/ with older people outnumbering the youth. I don't know how Japan is going to deal with this..or how it expects to prevent economic decline with such massive population decline.

And in terms of cars, I saw a report that said that Japanese youth weren't even that interested in owning cars anymore. Instead, they aspire to tech shtt like a Nintendo Wii and so on

@ 9DOOREMPIRE....
I know my spelling & grammar are F-up, I can only blame my self for not paying attention in school, my bad.
You are right, one should have a little compassion for others, and I do.

My comment was for all the Japanese Automotive fan boys that will run to defend their brands and say It's bad times, and not the quality of their brands. As they will unlikely say that about Domestic, and Euro brands, that's it's the quality and not bad times the reason they find them self's in...

It's those ignorant morons that have no idea of how a internal combustion engine works, nor can't even change there own flat tire, just because it's Japanese it's good... And the worst part they claim to be educated... but that's Okay... That's why I have blow horns on the sides of my lifted truck, so I can blast them when ever I find a Toyota, or a Honda Hybrid next to me at the stop light.....

it's 'much', not 'mush', and 'behalf of', not 'behave of'..

Comments like that make me proud to be an American,
they also underscore the fact that the financial deficit is
not our biggest problem, it's the education deficit.

It's also beneficial to note that when we are entrenched
in a global economy, if one suffers, we all suffer. A little
compassion for them may go a long way for you...
