The Cadillac Ciel concept impressed show-goers at last week’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, including certified gear head Jay Leno. In fact, the late night TV host was so interested in the Ciel that he tracked down GM’s head of global design to detail the stunning convertible.

Leno spent nearly ten minutes on camera talking to GM VP of design Ed Welburn, with the two going over pretty much every inch of the Ciel concept. Leno came away impressed with the Ciel’s interior while Welburn came away pleased with the designed team’s attention to details.

Our favorite part of the video is the Ciel’s electronic suicide doors in action, which Wleburn says could pass crash standards for production vehicle. However, we’re not holding our breath for such a system on a production Cadillac anytime soon.

Although the Ciel is strictly a concept, Cadillac head of design Clay Dean recently revealed that the car’s design will influence future Cadillac models. We expect to see a mug similar to the Ciel’s on Cadillac’s long-in-the-making flagship sedan.
