Detroit’s unemployed could use a good laugh right now, reckons comedian and car enthusiast extraordinaire Jay Leno. The Tonight Show host has announced that he’ll perform – for free to anyone who says they’re unemployed – next month in suburban Detroit as part of “Jay’s Comedy Stimulus Plan.”
The comedian will perform at the Palace at Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on April 7. Tickets, parking and refreshments will be free and, according to NBC, Leno was given free use of the Palace facility courtesy of the Detroit Pistons NBA basketball team.
Leno, who announced the free performance last night on his show, is aiming the show at those who have been laid off by the industry that reigns supreme in the Motor City. No doubt the show will be full of jokes relating to the suffering auto industry.
