This new Grand Cherokee appears to be a great replacement for the current model. As far as the interior goes… Anyone who has anything even remotely negative to say about it is either delusional, needs to have their eyes checked, or are blatantly looking for and subsequently pulling things right out of their rear-ends. Chrysler has obviously learned their lesson with regard to interiors…

In response to such “learned” individuals as nickkop… It’s painfully clear we have yet another LLN commentator who loves to open their trap before doing even one iota of research on any given subject. Instead of just comfortable spewing your misconceived drivel… You might want to take your head out of your rear-end and actually do a little bit of reading up on the Phoenix-family of six-cylinder engines. It’s certainly not as if there hasn’t been more than enough written on the project over the last couple of years… So it must just be that you can’t be bothered to do so for whatever reason. Do yourself a favor and check it out… Then you might actually come across as something other than an ignorant, run of the mill fanboy for whatever hogwash you subscribe to.

With that said… As far as anyone else with their comments about this being “too late” because Chrysler won’t survive long enough for this new GC to come out – it’s definitely time for a big reality check…

Even if Chrysler does not survive (and that’s still a BIG “if”)… Under absolutely zero circumstances would that equate to Jeep somehow going under with it. Were Chrysler to go under, if nothing else… Jeep would be the top brand – if not the only brand to be salvaged from the company. There are more than enough potential companies that would be nothing less than thrilled at the prospect of acquiring Jeep – plain and simple.

The Jeep GC is just the beginning. You will see a new 300C and a new Charger. The new Charger is a beast and looks fast sitting still. Both have considerably improved interiors. You will also see a (B Segment Car) smaller than a Caliber, very efficient. Avenger and Sebring will not see another refresh and will be replaced with a new and improved mid-sized sedan. Nitro goes bye-bye and the Compass is not far behind.

There is not a lot of separation between CJD – Honda – Toyota-Chevy- Ford. It is all perception and packaging. The auto media is mostly lazy and piggyback off of other people’s articles. So when you see a good or bad review on a car just know that very few of these writers do their homework. They rely on past history and what the other guy said.

Chrysler will make it. If not. Jeep definitely will. It is in high demand and is Chrysler’s bargaining chip.

BTW – anyone who says the interior is not as nice as the current Highlander, Pilot, Tribeca, etc. does NOT know what they are talking about.

I’m amazed at some many companies that try to meet or beat JEEP and fail. One one company can claim to be in Jeeps League and go figure it’s to only other company with a real military record as well, Land Rover. That is they actually made or still make vehicles for the military. MERCEDES BENZ and BMW make great road machines but when the road ends MB comes in a lagging third.

Now JEEP is going after Land Rover for Off-road Luxury? If nothing else, Jeep will beat Land Rover in Off-Road. The GC has always been Jeep’s stab at that All-terrain Luxury market. If CHRYSLER can stick it out long enough to make this work, and do it right, Not over produce because that market while strong is not bottomless, Then they have a real shot at long term survival and success.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a new GC SRT in the near future. Hint: Make it a high pressure Turbo Diesel. Just saw the Newest Jay Garage and that is some sick diesel tech. 1400 hp and can make six runs on one gallon. I’m sure there is more to it than that but still, can you imagine?

It would make CHRYSLER’s large cars much more desirable and scarier; 500hp, 800 lb/ft, and 40+mpg (and that’s being conservative).

CHRYSLER, because you have no other choice, BUILT IT AS IT AND BUILT NOW!

I wonder if INTERNATIONAL would be interested in buying HUMMER and/or JEEP?

On another note, that terracotta interior is outstanding and the smooth silver is an amazing look. I still hate the taillights, but thats about my only complaint other than its lack of offroad ability.

Nickkop- Not a fan boy, just giving inside information from people that have worked on the project and given comparisons of the Pheonix to the Toyota 3.3L and 3.5L engines. Mercedes is going to be using the Pheonix architecture in there next gen V6″s, it’s just a fact not a guess. The 3.0L Diesel was standard issue on the ‘07 and ‘08 models, supplied from Mercedes, dropped only because of cost issues and emmision compliance. There’s a good chance though that they will bring it back, it was the top seller in Canada.

That air suspension is too trick. I don’t see/hear of any Subaru Tribeca with this kind of off-road capability.

Oh, and just like Sirius, Jeep won’t even be around to release it. But I suppose there is a market for people who have faith in Chrysler to get it right this time as far as build quality.

Though I’m not really sold about those BMW/Audi-ish tallights.

Wasn’t that what the original intent of the tie-up. Who approved the rest of the line up that brought them where they are today? Caliber? Sebring? Are you kidding me… the only place I see them is at the Budget / Avis lot.
