^^Ford quality is up, go check the JD Power report for this year. Ford took top honors with the most rewards. There’s no such thing as a quality gap anymore between Toyota, Ford, and GM.

If you read alot, why would you want to buy a Lincoln LS? They never got good ratings, that’s why Lincoln cancelled them in 2005. Try looking at the new models that are getting great reviews.

I read a lot as I wanted to buy a used Lincoln LS.

What a bomb car, and the resale value refects it.

Ford needs to get quality up, way up, before they die.

How do they expect people to spend their money on bad cars?

And GM’s are GREAT, they havent offered such a great lineup in years, and the main two reasons i think sales are down is yes because of fleets, and also because the GMT 900’s were released and were much hotter sellers around this time last year, which gave GM great numbers.

Well i guess when lincoln went from selling 12 cars a month to selling 17, a 30% jump isnt that surprising.

The new WRX will boost Subaru sales through the roof when they are released.

and im very surprised (and happy) to see that it was mitsubishi and nissan on top, and not toyota.

And why is everyone pissin and moaning about chrysler and how much of a burden they are all of a sudden when their sales were down less than 1%?

I also went back and read the press release, Ford had an increase in retail sales this month compared to last year. All of the decline was offset by fleet reductions.

Nice month for Nissan, too. Everyone was commenting on its Sentra (probably because of fuel-efficiency), but it’s the Altima that is powering it forward. Nearly 25,000 units compared to just over 14,000 last year.

Actually, they are buying the new MKX and the MKZ. The Navigator is actually down YOY. I’m sorry you hate Lincoln so much, but if you did your homework, you’d realize that the MKZ has the best rated interior, again, and the power and performance is on par with the ES350, among others. It is not a game-changer, there are still a few quirks that need to get smoothed over before it is a segment-leader, but it is tops in quality and well-received by consumers. The MKX is another top quality vehicle that has received high marks from its consumers.

Oooh… Aaah… Look at all the numbers… Detroit sucks… Please.

Well, what can we tell by looking at the numbers for June 2007? It looks like the Big 3 sold 53% of the cars in America, while 12 import manufacturers took the remaining 47% between them. The General still sold the most, Ford still sold the second most, and Toyota came in third.

What can’t we tell? The best selling brand for one. Toyota still includes Scion’s numbers with theirs. Depending on the number sold, Ford could come out on top.

We also can’t tell anything without the number of fleet sales. Everyone on here should know that the General is pulling out of rental market. You used to be able to go by a rental business and see their lots proliferated with Buicks and Devilles on the top end and Chevys, Pontiacs, and Saturns. Now when I drive by them around here I see more Toyotas. You would think such a smart company like Toyota would have learned some lessons from GM with regard to fleet sales.

It takes a long time to turn a wayward ship and GM is making definite progress. Ford is at least trying do something and Chrysler, well.. we’ll have to wait and see.

Proclaim all of the death knells you want but none of these companies are going anywhere, any time soon. I for one will be much more interested in June 08’s numbers.

Remember in 2006 all US automakers were giving the cars away with Employee Pricing/Family Pricing.
It’s no coincidence that 2007 looks so terrible vs 2006.

Lately they’re lineup seems to be improving though. I drove the Equinox, and it was fairly decent. Likewise the G6, although obviously nothing compared with the German contingent.

Toyota’s fleet mix I believe is about 6-7 percent which is also where Nissan is at. I know Honda increased their fleet sales from 0 to 3-4% this year. So they’re obviously just filling the void left by retreating US automakers. I just read an article about a rental company (maybe Hertz) purchasing 3200 Priuses. FYI…thats $64 million in cars. Pretty interesting observing the change.

Audi is still for a niche market, for those who can get over the fact that they’re paying decent $ without a MB or Bimmer logo. Without any lower end refreshed models, Audi’s sales will continue to suffer. They need to bring out the new A4 asap with completely revised interior.

Yeah rey, Audi has been on a roll lately and have been taking a small piece of BMWs market share especially in light of BMWs recent controversial styling. Audi certianly has been trying in recent years, but if you honestly evaluate their cars, they’re over priced. For example, the A4 2.0T is a big seller to the young executive crowd, but in reality, you can get a car thats every bit as good (with most of the same mechanicals) for a bit less by buying a Jetta GLI.

So what about the Ford….. like somebody mentioned above, the old Taurus and the Freestar are not currently selling, even the T-Bird, GT, etc and the rental fleet have been cut a lot, its not very suprising. Plus the Taurus X hasnt been out yet.

…….Just wait till they release 2008 stats comparing to 2007 stats.

No, TOZO…. New Taurus shouldnt be sold to rental fleet to raise the sale numbers…… it’ll hit the resale value hard. Plus the reputation crap and all. Why do u think Ford is reducing the fleet sales? Learn something

Actually, if you really look at the numbers, Ford would be up if you didn’t figure the old Taurus and Freestar. These are both discontinued vehicles. Ford is doing great right now and I am glad and proud (Think American) to work at a Ford dealership.
