Spied: 2010 Kia Cee’d Plus?

We’ll start off by making it clear we’re not sure what the final name of this vehicle will be, much less whether it will ever see U.S. shores. That said, our spy photographers managed to snap several images of a Kia prototype that appears to be based on the Cee’d hatchback, with a few modifications. Essentially, it looks like a competitor to the Volkswagen Golf Plus — essentially a tall MPV version of the Golf.

Hyundai is also expected to get a version of the car, and again there is no indication so far as to whether it will come to America. The Golf Plus has never been sold here, but with Americans drastically reconsidering their vehicle choices, anything seems possible.

Take note of the panoramic glass roof, which is just one of luxury features on this prototype. The interior also looks pretty spiffy, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see small people-movers like this popping up at U.S. dealers if gas prices continue to climb.

Official name of this car: “Monkey See, Kia Cee’doo?”

They should just call it the Kia Sperm. Everytime I hear “Cee’d” that’s my first thought.

Not suprising, Kia needed something like this to boost European sales.

Actually, Kia designs are good. I suspect they buy them from Italy, like in good old days.

Didn’t Kia steal away a designer from Audi and a few other European companies?

And the point of the Kia Cee’d Plus and Golf Plus are? To look like you can take them off-road?

No, the Golf Plus is baiscally a minivan, the off road looking vehicles usually have the world Cross in them for VW.

Sorry, my bad… still don’t see the point in vehicles like the Crossfox, etc., MPV’s with a new badge and an inch extra of ground clearance.

I don’t either, but Europeans buy them, so might as well do it to get more sales in that market.

Very goodlooking for a ****ty ultracompact. We need something to take on the Yaris, which is ugly as sin. This looks OK.
