The project aims to combine automotive styling with comic book art. Legendary comic book artist Jim Lee has collaborated with Kia on each of the eight Kia vehicles. Super heroes to feature on the cars includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.
Each has been matched to a particular Kia model with each design to be unveiled over a ten-month period. Kia cars to be graced by the art of Jim Lee will include the Optima, Soul, Sorento, Sportage, Rio and the Forte. Additional stylistic and tuning touches will be added by West Coast Customs, RIDES magazine, as well as Import Tuner magazine among others.
"This partnership will allow us to band these two great brands together in an effort to make the world a better place through the 'We Can Be Heroes' campaign," said Michael Sprague, VP of marketing for Kia Motors America. "And with Jim Lee's vision combined with the efforts of some of the best customizing shops in the business, it's going to be a lot of fun unveiling these cars around the country," Sprague added.
The Justice League-themed Kias will be unveiled in turn at five major events including New York Comic-Con, the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the North American International Auto Show (NAISAS) in Detroit, Wonder-Con and San Diego Comic-Con.
