Kia ’s all-new Soul will roll into U.S. dealerships in just a few weeks, but the funky Scion -fighter could already be in line for a new sibling. Kia showed off its Soul’ster concept at last month’s Detroit Auto Show, and the drop top version of the boxy Soul could be getting fast tracked for production.
According to Automotive News, the Soul’ster concept received so much positive buzz after the Detroit show that Kia execs are strongly considering putting the four-seater, open air version of the Soul into production. “The response was so overwhelming,” Kia spokesman Alex Fedorak said of the Soul’ster concept.
Like the Soul on which it’s based, the production Soul’ster would be aimed at young buyers, with a price tag to match. The Soul will list from about $14,000 when it rolls into dealerships this March, and the road-going version of the Soul’ster show car would likely sport a similar MSRP.
No time frame has been given for a decision for the production Soul’ster, but Kia says the concept car was designed to be “production-capable”.
