While it will be dubbed simply the K9 in its home market of Korea, Kia has revealed its flagship sedan will be called the Quoris in export markets. The name, Kia says, is a derivation of 'core' and 'quality.'

"Our decision to give this striking new sedan an unconventional name means it will stand out even further from the established crowd," said Kia Executive Vice President & COO of the International Business Division, Thomas Oh, in a prepared statement.

Kia also confirmed the car will go on sale in global markets during the fourth quarter of this year. It was on sale in Korea as the K9 since May, however. The car includes advanced features such as adaptive cruise control, a collision warning and mitigation system, blind spot detection, and a lane departure warning system. Four cameras will also allow better placement of the car during tight parking maneuvers.

The car's systems will also "communicate" with the driver through audio, visual, and haptic alerts. These include a loud audible alarm, a visual warning on both the Head Up Display (HUD) and TFT LCD as well as a slight tug on the seatbelt.

The rear-wheel drive sedan is powered by either a 286-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 or a 330-horsepower of the same engine, though with a direct injection system. Either is mated to an eight-speed automatic. When the car arrives in North America, it's likely to get a V8 engine option as well, likely the 4.6-liter V8 also used by Hyundai's Genesis flagship.
