Wow—I just looked at it again, and I really like it. As I said in my post above, I’m generally not a huge fan of little cars, but this one is nice.

Ford should just pay Kia for this design, stretch it a bit so it’s the size of the current Focus, and sell it as the NEW Focus (and whatever they do, DON’T dump the Focus name!). Jazz up the interior a bit, make a 2.0 liter engine with about 140 HP standard, with the 2.3 with about 170 HP optional, with a 6-speed manual or automatic, sell it for $14K to $18K, and they wouldn’t be able to keep them on the lot.

I actually like it. Kia, and Hyundai, are definitely on a roll. I keep seeing and hearing about all these neat little cars that are for Europe only, and it disappoints me.

There are two characteristics about most small cars that keep me from buying them: most of them “feel” tinny and unsubstantial, and most of them are just too “busy” on the highway at 70 MPH. Their tachs generally read 3000 RPM or higher, and I can’t feel relaxed in a car when the engine is working that hard. The one exception I can think of that I’ve driven recently was an ‘06 Kia Spectra; it was quiet and relaxed on the highway, and at 70 MPH, the tach read 2600 RPM. I was amazed.

Does anybody else see a lot of the Chevrolet Beat concept car in this pro_cee’d?

I’m not a hatchback fan, but I really like that! Very cute design. I love the interior. Kia is doing big things.

John: I test drove a Rondo, and knew within 2 minutes I wasn’t going to buy it. Then, i drove the Hyundai Azera. Shows whos upmarket and downmarket in THAT house!

Really nice looking, kudos to Kia. They’ve done a nice job designing this car, although nothing really creates a definition for Kia (in other words, nice looking, but nothing to distinguish it and set a design direction for Kia). The rear tail lights reminds me of Nissan, and the interior looks a little cheap (such as the dashboard), but other than that, it looks nicely put together.

OK, so it’s another Kia.. but the window treatment is quite interesting, sorta chopped down and reminiscent of the Audi A3. This would make a nice Spectra3 for the US market!!
