I’m on KTM’s side, here. It’s clearly focused towards a trackday role, and most cars for that application don’t have airbags. (Original Elise, Atom, etc) Besides, it’s coming from a motorbike manufacturer, and one of the best in their end of the business. (KTM makes awesome Dual-Sport bikes, and their new, more sportbike-ish effort is awesome, as well.) A lot of tracks prefer cars not to have airbags, anyway. In a car like this, it’s even more true, as top-access means that an airbag could obstruct egress in a crash. It’s also been seen, time and time again, that a proper racing harness is a more than adequate replacement for an airbag, and I’d assume that this car should be equipped with some quite nice ones.

Audi and VW are completely disappointing me! BAD Audi! VW was too chicken to bring out the GX3, and Audi wasn’t onboard with this at this weight. Phooey on them.

This KTM is what people want. Screw the airbags. People will only drive this 2-3k miles per year anyway.

Maybe VW will get smart and release the GX3 under the new Lotus name…. yeah right. I will never buy any VW or Audi until they do this!

KTM, where do I sign up? Please bring it to america.

Auto Industrialist, your comment about the big 4, that all comes down to what type of motocross the the big 4 are, KTM is better than the big 4 in some types of motocross.

this car just looks like a lot of fun! this one’s all about driving, who cares about practicality? it looks like a more dressed up ariel atom in some ways, actually. I like the look of this one much better though. I’ll take it!

i would like to have that thing in my garage

good strategy would be if the coloured panels could be replaced easily with other styles and colours, perhaps enhancing aerodynamics

if one company actually produces these vehicles at an affordable cost (especially with the DSG), it could dramatically chip into the lotus elise market

I drove the GTI with the DSG and it is an incredible system. Although stopping at a red light feels like you’re in an automatic, the nostalgia of vrrrrrrm, bap, vrrrrrrm is definately still there – a fore sure performance enhancer in many ways

I feel KTM has defined iteself through a persistent and low-marketing style. the motocross world has been dominated for the ‘top four’ for years and KTM has increased their prestige by being a thoughtful and unique company. this is a perfect summary of what this company is doing and has done. The fact that Audi even considered working with a company such as KTM on such an extreme vehicle shows the respect KTM has earned. You don’t see many extreme vehicles such as this from Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Honda. However, they would be cool
