(Update: New Info Here) Photos are now available of Lamborghini’s new 2007/2008 P400 Miura concept car. The new Miura looks much like the original, with decidedly retro styling. Previously, we cited an Auto Express report suggesting “the Miura will be as close to the original model as Ford’s GT is to the classic GT40″ — this certainly appears to be the case. Rumors have suggested the car is based on the same underpinnings as the future Audi R8, itself adapted from Lambo’s Gallardo. Rumors had placed horsepower from a V12 engine between 700 and 1000, but we have since learned it will use the Murcielago’s V12 engine with 580 hp. Car Magazine quoted Lambo head Stephen Winkelmann as saying “we are not yet talking about production. But every project has its meaning.” A photo gallery of the concept can be seen after the jump…

What? Plain!? I love it, I totally did not exspect lamborghini to back step to one of there older models like the rest of the car companys are doing but you know what? I think that car looks amazing. I can’t wait till it goes into production if they ever decide to do it.

I was surprised at the idea of going back to Lamborghini’s roots. From the time it was a tractor company to the time where it makes world class sports cars I feel this car sums it all up. It was the milestone that got Lamborghini to where it is today although I do agree it is slightly plain. The older Lambo’s were somewhat plain but I feel that De’ Silva could have done the car a little more justice. Overall I think it is a good idea to branch away from the Murcielago look now that it’s been milked of all of it’s glory.
