Lamborghini Embolado Concept

Lamborghini has released images of its Embolado Concept. Penned by Luca Serafini — an Italian design student — the Embolado was inspired by the Spanish festival, Toro Embolado. “The choice of the name was the first step towards the creation of this concept,” says Serafini. The festival of Toro Embolado involves putting flammable material on a bull’s horns, lighting them on fire and then releasing the bull into the streets, which sounds more akin to the Lamborghinis of yesteryear.

While there has been no official word as to whether the Embolado will make production — Lamborghini has yet to even announce at which auto show it will debut the concept — the car could indicate the future styling for an entry-level Lamborghini. Giving further credence to the design exercise is the fact that Serafini has also designed a Superleggera version.

Out of this world. Certainly polarizing. But it IS a concept, and considering what Lamborghini’s production cars look like, I’d certainly hope their concept cars were ridiculous.

I like it. It’s frighteningly different yet utterly cool at the same time. It does look a bit short in length which would help its overall appearance, but this is a cool car.

It look like a fighter plane or a spaceship. I’ll take one in aircraft gray, thanks.

Aargh. Am I a Lambo hater now or what? The extreme angular surfaces on the Reventon is perhaps forgiveable (but, to me, still not all that likable) because it’s a design theme imposed on a beautiful shape.

But the Embolado evokes in me a Alright-enough-is-enough type of reaction. It’s a first-gen. Toyota MR2 Transformer. I’ve never liked the proportion where the top part of the front end is more forward that the rear portion. I think that weakens the car. And if you look at the front wheel well it looks like body panels from three or four different cars just coming together.

Not a good design in my book. There’s a trace of a curve in the rear fender that I like. The back end also isn’t that bad, like a Gallardo evolution, if anything. All in all, this car doesn’t look like a Lambo, it doesn’t look Italian sexy. Next.

Yes, it looks very much along the lines of the W2 Vector (a car waaaaaay ahead of its time).

The more I look at it, the more I love it. Yes, I would be caught dead in it. Yes, I would be caught driving it. Yes, I would be caught opening the panel to the engine to show it off. Yes, yes, yes. This is a wicked automobile.

Man the eighties were fruity.

@ meanpants555,
When I was an undergraduate one of the lectures we had involved Gerald Wiegert driving into the courtyard, just in front of the lecture area with a W2. He steps out, and out of the passenger’s side exits a drop-dead gorgeous fashion model with waist-length hair. Wiegert gave a great lecture. He was very amiable and allowed all of us to examine the Vector, sit in it, start it up (no driving it), all while answering all of the many questions we had about every facet of the car. It was a total high for all of us only heightened by the fact that his model/girlfriend would jump into the W2 with us for a photo op, if you wanted. The is no doubt his heart and soul was in the Vector venture. I still believe he was far ahead of his time for the automotive industry. His views on transmissions, and the details of a vehicle were not only interesting; they made a great deal of sense.

Greenhouse: Looks great on the Cadillac Cien, looks like crap here. Check out that massive A pillar. No thank you.

Rear end: Awful. It looks nothing like what a Lamborghini should. Looks like the back of an ATV. I hate it.

All in all this dude may have a lot of potential, but this looks like a Lamborghini from the future that already looks like it was in an accident. There’s WAY too many pointless cut lines and too much “surface excitement.” What’s so gorgeous about the Murciélago is that every cut line has a purpose. Every line is meaningful and leads somewhere. Any Murciélago is massively agressive while also being very harmonious in design. This Empanada, or whatever it’s called, has none of that at all.
