Lamborghini getting into used supercar business

Lamborghini of America is following in the footsteps of long-time rival — and reason for the brand’s very existence — Ferrari in offering a certified pre-owned vehicle program. The program will start in July at 31 authorized U.S. dealers, where Gallardos and Murcielagos will be sold with a warranty and roadside assistance.

The warranties will include coverage for powertrain, suspension and steering systems, ABS, electrical, fuel and heating and A/C systems and last either one or two years, as per customers’ wishes and wallets.

The program will consider trade-ins as well, although they have to meet some requirements, including no more than 22,000 miles showing on their odometers, proof of maintenance, and the successful pass of the automaker’s 150-point inspection. Modified examples will not be accepted, unless the modifications are original Lamborghini accessories or equipment.

My Grandpa bought a Countach from Italy about a year ago. He is 79 years old and still buys these kind of toys.

shaver, here’s a little history lesson man. Ferruccio had a complaint about his Ferrari 250, and when he went to Enzo, he really didn’t get any answer. So… Mr. Lamborghini fixed his 250 himself and vowed to never again own another Ferrari and to make a better supercar. Lamborghini already had his own tractor factory, so he just expanded and started producing sports cars. The rest is history. If not for Ferrari, Lamborghini would still just be making tractors. IMHO, that’s not much of an existence.

to add some on DSs’ history lesson:

Ferruccio Lamborghini actually GOT an answer to his complaint, but not a nice one: It must have been something like this “you’re some redneck tractor maker, you know nothing about sportscars, we dont care about your complaint, our cars are not for people like you anyways”

one thing on the side: making tractors is not much of an existence? apparently it paid enough to buy a ferrari … oh, and tell john deere that theyre practically non-existent :p

And now to add to your history lesson fan:

It wasn’t just the tractor factory the he made his money from, he had an italian air conditioning company that made him very wealthy. So it was not just the tractor company that paid well enough to get a ferrari.
