Lamborghini Murcielago SV [Spied]

Spy photographers have spotted a rather suspicious looking Lamborghini Murcielago out on the roads of Europe. While the body of the prototype remains relatively unchanged from the current Murcielago, the car’s large rear wing indicates that something special lies beneath.

All indications would seem to suggest that this is a prototype for the upcoming Lamborghini Murcielago SV — a more high-performance version of the Italian supercar.

Reports surfaced late last year that Lamborghini was developing an SV version of the Murcielago to mark the car’s production end. As with previous Lamborghini SV models, the Murcielago SV will ditch its all-wheel drive system for a lighter rear-wheel drive setup. To further save weight, Lamborghini will attach a fixed spoiler to the Murcielago — instead of the current car’s automatic spoiler setup — and will also use several carbon fiber pieces to save on weight. In all, the Murcielago SV should shave about 100kg.

The Murcielago’s power will also be raised — trumping the Reventon’s 640 horsepower by at least 40 — which will further enhance the SV’s performance. Lamborghini’s E-gear is also said to be part of the SV package, but shift times should be cut in half.

Lamborghini promised to show one new car at every major auto show this year, and it looks like the Italian automaker will keep true to its word. Look for the Murcielago to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

Holy Wing! A Murcialago SV? Sounds cool because I loved the Diablo SV. Only a Lamborghini can sport these kind of colors, but they look awesome on it. Also ditching the AWD system for a lighter RWD set up? Smart move Lambo. Can’t wait to see more of this raging bull.

lol I think I almost sounded like LP jacking off to this news in my post there, lol didn’t mean to sound like that, but it’s a pretty sweet Lambo. And when I read the two letters SV, I got excited.

Whoa that is one huge wing! And wouldn’t rear wheel drive just make this thing plain scary?

carvonsigma: indeed it would, but that’s what would make it exciting to drive, or as some would say, it’s what would make it a true Lamborghini.

Why the hell do they need to end production of the MurciƩlago anyway? The Countach was in production for 15 years and the Diablo for 11 or so. I think they can get more out of this.

carbonsigma, lamborghinis were always scary before audi. it was their main selling point.

the wings in the SV were smaller than the ones in the VT. The SV (Super Veloce) never had the AWD the VT (Viscous Traction) had, mainly to lose weight. I guess they won’t use the E-Gear (I’ve heard some drivers saying it chokes and bumps when downshifting above 7krpm, the redline is 8500rpm)

Yeah JohnnyBlazE, the Focus ST looks good with electric Orange as well, I wasn’t serious either I can think of many cars that can sport those kinds of colors and still look good. But If I was to ever buy a Lamborghini, lol probably isn’t going to ever happen but I can dream, lol It wouldn’t be a plain white, silver, or black one.

What’s wrong with wings? You DO know what they do, I’m sure, murdered? … That wing will help its lap times WAY more than another 20 hp ever would.

I find something incredibly beautiful about wings, and I’m not talking about aesthetics, though they can look beautiful on some cars. They’re incredibly low-drag, high-downforce elements which if designed properly for the car can sometimes actually DECREASE the overall drag of the vehicle. (like in F1 cars) This is often achieved through other elements attached to the wing, not the main wing itself.

This is a far cry from the spoilers some of you see on NASCAR every week (while chewing on pork grind wearing mustard-stained ‘beaters) whose purpose is to reduce downforce and add drag. And, the better your engine, the bigger your spoiler. What kind of barbaric retardness is that?

But I do have to say, that is one UGLY wing, and it looks horrible on the Murcielago. It’s too bad they can’t get away without one … with other aero mods. I mean, the Enzo doesn’t need one!

“Lamborghini will attach a fixed spoiler to the Murcielago”

That’s NOT a spoiler! You need to learn the difference between a spoiler and a wing.

Lamborghini, don’t think of putting the wings. Let’s just say that the Murcielago LP640 continues to be sold for another 12 years and I would like to know how many of these would be produced.
