Lamborghini to go retro with new Miura

If a new report in Auto Express is accurate, American automakers aren’t the only ones bringing back retro styling. According to the article, Lamborghini is planning to bring back the range-topping Miura with styling based on the 1966 original. “The Miura will be as close to the original model as Ford’s GT is to the classic GT40,” the magazine says. Lamborghini’s retro star is likely to be based on the same underpinnings as the future Audi R8, itself adapted from Lambo’s Gallardo. It is expected to use a V12 engine with 700 horsepower — about twice as much power as the original Miura. While Leftlane has yet to obtain a scan of the new Auto Express rendering that accompanies the printed article, pictured right is a recent artists’ rendering of how a retro-styled 2007 Miura might look. Earlier this year, AutoBild published a much more futuristic looking Miura rendering.
