oh and actually the LR2 needs a V8 about as much as the X3 needs a V8.. considering they are direct competitors, why would the engine sizes change in a comparison? I bet if BMW put the base V8 from the X5 into the X3 nobody would complain.

That LR2 needs a V8 about as much as an X3 needs a V10. Or as much as Bill Gates needs more money, to make my point more clear.

There is something missing, we need the diesel that you can get in the UK for the LR3. That engine would make a lot of these cars more mainstream. Let’s face it, a lot of us don’t want a 12mpg vehicle; even a good one.

Whats wrong with Land Rover now? Can you actually name somethign specific that is wrong with the entire brand?

I have driven every Land Rover product, except the Defender 110, brought into the US since the late 80’s and every year they get better and better. I have even driven most of those vehicle off-road and I must say the newer models are better off-road then the old ones. They are easier to drive off-road and much more capable as well. They also drive better on road, are more luxurious and more reliable.

V8 sounds like a good idea…even if it didn’t sell many copies, would be a nice halo car to help position the LR2 above the RAV4 etc. in keeping with Land Rover’s premium image.

Would be a fun little toy as well.

Nope the LR2 Weighs more. A LR2 depending on options will be a little over 4,000 lbs and a S80 with the V8 motor is a little under 4,000 lbs. The I-6 motor in the S80 gives it a weight of around 3,500 lbs.

the LR2 is already much more costly than the Freelander it replaced… I say give it some time, let the people adjust to the LR2, and stager the price a bit.

Top of the line LR2 with a base LR3…

It could work, but many more peple would rather see a good diesel.

I don’t know whats the weight on LR2, but im hoping its a little lighter than S80, by judging their sizes. S-80 goes in mid-6 seconds from 0 to 60 sec. LR2 might go 6 seconds flat.

Keep it in low volume. Just in case if nobody wants them. No money losing.
