2010 Range Rover Sport [Spied again]

Although the Land Rover brand recently exchanged hands from Ford to India’s Tata Motors, it looks as though the new owners are moving ahead with any Land Rover projects that were already in the works. Apparently an updated Range Rover Sport was part of those plans and spy photographer have spotted the updated version of the ‘ute.

The last time we spotted the upcoming freshening of the Range Rover Sport, it was taking some hot laps on the Nurburgring, hinting at its above average SUV performance.

Although the signature headlamps appear to remain the same, the front fascia – bumper and grille - is updated, giving the Range Rover Sport a cleaner yet more serious look, and more in line with the LR2. As for the back – it appears the updates are very minor – just affecting the lower bumper trim.

The current Range Rover Sport is powered by a 4.2-liter Supercharged engine, but hiding beneath the skin of this new prototype is a new 5.0-liter V8 diesel engine which is rumored to be equipped with a supercharger and direct injection. Although output remains a mystery, it’s quite possible the diesel powerplant could keep performance level while improving overall fuel economy.

How is it updated? The only difference I can see is a more fluent front bumper.

possibly one of the biggest disappointments out there. since its production, the sport has lived up to range rover’s reputation of putting out suv’s that are more high-maintenance than a luxury sedan. horrible update. they need to get rid of those plastic side gills, and update the tail/headlights. if they’re gonna call this a luxury suv, they’ve got to live up to the name. get rid of the plastic (on inside & out) and produce a quality vehicle with reasonable mpg that can go a few months without breaking down.

My friend and I passed a (Appeared newer) Range Rover on Saturday and it looked similar to this Sport. One of the major differences was the taillights were different and very bright appearing as if he was riding the brakes but was not. I would guess it is the newer LR by its bumpers and tailights. He was doing 90+ and we had some trouble keeping with him. By the way, does anyone know how the Tailights would be so bright?
