Interesting how the profanities survived the thread!

This experiment proves that the threads are moderated by someone who casually and sporadically reads them as opposed to an algorhythm that looks for buzzwords.
Oh well, Piablo you're still a moron of epic proportions, no changing that!!!!

HOw's your mom by the way? Has her sphincter recovered yet?

and an Escalade does'nt go off road RR's are serious off- road vehicles try one (size be damned). I doubt if the people driving these things really care about milage if that was the case then why spend 90K on a truck?

Wayward"boi"??? - Anyway, maybe you have it backwards... Maybe the Tahoe is a lesser expensive Escalade??

Land Rover enjoys a legacy that is well above their current standards. They get some of the WORST mileage and quality issues are rampant. They are great looking vehicles, but they are not worth the sticker. They have bigger problems to design out of their vehciles when an Escalade weighs the same as an LR3. Check it out on Edmunds.

Wow. I didnt know LRs and RRs were performance cars until the Supercharged models came out. What do you guys expect? They're made for off-roading, they can literally drive around the entire world. The supercharged RRs are not the fastest SUVs but they aint no slouch either and are leaps and bounds nicer inside than any other offering from the other manufacturers. There is no comparison in luxury and ride from the Escalade and RR s/c. I've been in and driven both and the only thing the Escalade has is more power and speed.

this may put the RR supercharged ahead of the current excalade
current escalade is larger but lighter and has about the same power. Escalade is faster, handles better, more room, slightly better feul economy all for about 67k vs the 91k RR supercharged...alot of that is the name but i would still take the current escalade but maybe with hte lighter aluminum frame the RR will take over in the speed and handleing segment making it hte better car

Madcap you must not have a very good sense of what you are driving in. The Disco actually has a very low center of gravity. Almost all of the body panels are made of auminium and the frame is thick gauge fully boxed steel. Heavy stuff low and high stuff light equals high roll center and low center of gravity.

A disco drives much better then a 7 foot tall SUV with solid axles should.

It all sounds interesting but in a few years I have little doubt we'll be hearing about higher end SUVs and cars being made out of the newest generation of Carbon fiber. The National Research Laboratories have been working on new formulations and manufacturing processes to bring the cost of Carbon Fiber, structural Carbon Fiber, down to about $4.00/lb as opposed to the current $15.00/lb. Consider when the Ferrari F40 was built (single best Ferrari ever made. period), that Carbon Fiber costs were about $40.00/lb

There are some early reports that it is not quite as strong as current forms of Carbon Fiber but is still more than capable of the job. But I would not put off greater use of lighter metal like Aluminum. Especially in vehicles needing the shock absorbing properties of metal over many fiberous composites.

Well, The new LR2 has recieved some very good reviews (considering it replaced the Freelander) so I'd wouldn't write off Land Rover yet.
Taking that much weight off the Range Rover could only be good for everything. The only negative impact may be price, as working with aluminium costs more, but it will probably be worth it

madcapp, you think thats bad go sit in a freelander, there is more plastic in it then all of the u.s. cars combined. ground clearance is next to nothing, it rattles, the brakes feel like you should jut put your foot out the door and it has no power whatsoever.
very disapointing that an exterra is way better for less.

Landrover needs to go to hell. I drove in a Discovery once and it was an alarmingly top heavy piece of shit that felt unstable and downright dangerous to drive in. Can you believe that there are actually fans of these vehicles? They call the Discovery "Disco"....what a bunch of dumb asses.
