The Los Angeles Police Department has developed a plan to avoid high-speed car chases by tagging suspect cars with GPS tracking devices. A tracking dart, fired from a special launcher, sticks to the car and gives off a radio signal. “Instead of us pushing them doing 70 or 80 mph … this device allows us not to have to pursue after the car,” a police spokesperson said. “It allows us to start vectoring where the car is. Even if they bail out of the car, we`ll have pretty much instantaneously information where they are.”
