Personally, I would rather have an SL65 Black series AMG. I much prefer the rugged styling of that car over this one, and from what I have been able to hear on various clips and the link, I also prefer the exhaust note of the SL65 AMG black series.

I love the SLR. It’s my favorite supercar. Its worth the title of Mercedes-Benz Flagship. All the “competing” Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, and Porches don’t quite match up to SLR. Sure, they might be faster, more aerodynamic, and have better track performance, but the SLR will always beat them in terms of luxury, safety, and arguably, looks. And, I know this doesn’t matter to many of you, but its 2-tons, 617 HP V8, and its near-invincible safety at 12/17 MPG. Its a technological wonder in nearly every way (the brakes, even though Carbon-Fiber assisted with a spoiler, aren’t very good, so I’ve heard). Whatever Mercedes tries to replace it with will never compete with the SLR.

On topic, I guess this means they won’t bring the SLR 722S Roadster or the rumoured final editon Speedster to the US.

What they haven’t mentioned is that each of those tobacco colored seats displays a warning label stating ‘product may cause cancer in once flourishing iconic American vehicle manufacturers’ accompanied by a picture of a rental Sebring.

wow, why doesn’t anyone like it? I think it is one of the most beautiful cars out there, maybe behind the carrera gt and the audi R8. You can’t tell me that if you saw one in real life you wouldn’t turn your head to look at it. For someone who knows anything about cars, that would just be retarded to not stare at its glory.

actually i’m not a fan of the slr. for me a car called super car should look much better than this one. even the sl looks better i think. why this fugly nose and the mercedes star stamped into it?

It’s really not a head-turner. So if you’re the one who likes a “sleeper” type of car, then this is it. I’m not a big fan of them. Even if I had that kinda loot to spend on cars (ie win the Mega Millions), I’d rather spent it towards several other cars. McLaren SLR just doesn’t do anything for me.

If I had the money, I’d love to pick up a used SLR coupe.

As long as you like the styling, I can’t think of any better car in terms of performance AND comfort.

A lot of people negatively compare it to the Carrera GT – and in a pure track comparison, I can understand why. But the fact that it can compete with the GT neck and neck on the track, and then feel just as comfortable in rush hour traffic or a 200 mile ride home, I think makes it a truly great car.

I know it’s not for everybody, but let’s be honest, most of us go years without even seeing a race track. If you’re going to get a supercar, it might as well be one that you can enjoy every day.

Knauz Mercedes-Benz in Lake Bluff, IL has a 2005 SLR that they have not been able to sell. They may be willing to deal on the $465,000 sticker price since the economy went to $#!^

Its true, every great manufactured car cant last forever, and the SLR sure made a huge mark in history.
