Am I missing something here? Has Jesus personally driven this? Did Gandhi originate the design? Was there a Kennedy scandal involved in its production? Why is LLN posting every day about this car?!?! I see nothing that's so special we need to devote 1/2 of the posts to.

And I suppose you think that Toyota only cares about the environment and not money planet drive? Everyone knows that their V8 Tundras and SUVs that get worse mileage then their GM counterparts are still better for the environment due to the toyota badge on them.

HalGameGuru - It has more to do with their political and economic philosophies than it does the environment. The Hummer in terms off machinery and emmisions is no different than any other truck out there. But it does represent a display of wealth. It's the Marxist side of them that get's their panties in a bunch, not the trees or mother nature.

I saw one of those future car programs that showcased GM's design development of a platform that could switch bodies. Pretty interesting concept. One of the more practical reasons for purchasing large SUVs is the need for people hauling. Being able to switch bodies between a people hauler and a lighter coupe version would be prett neat. I can't imagine how expensive this would be, but neat none the less.

Planet_Drive, I suppose all of corporate America is out to destry the environment? Or is just GM? Maybe the Camaro is taking so long to develop because they just can't get the right pollution factor yet... I suggest you get back on your meds and get some help.

The Hummer H2 has a smaller environmental footprint than the prius does, so I don't get why people harp on them. At least they don't pretend to be good for the environment.

Which is exactly why the car will be made. Gas will NEVER be $2.00/gal ever again in the US. The trend is headed, at least with cars, maybe not so much SUVs and Trucks, for much better, performance and/or efficiency. GM sees this and is finally acting on it.

This is one car on my list for my next "day car" and commuter to consider. So I am looking forward to it.

This car will never see production. Its all about where the money can be made, not helping the environment. Why do you thing GM builds those horribly tacky escalades and hummers?(I wonder how many hummer owners realise the name of their car is slang for blowjob?)

As long as the exterior modifications needed to increase aerodynamics don't ruin the character of the car, I don't see how the Volt can fail.
