Leftlane’s Spy Diaries: Brenda Priddy featured on ABC News

08/20/2009, 2:53 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Though we at Leftlane have done our best to capture the thrill of espionage that is automotive spy photographer Brenda Priddy’s life, we were thrilled to see ABC News’ take on the automakers’ biggest paparazzi enemy in the desert.

ABC News spent a day with Brenda traveling through the sun-soaked desert southwest as she followed various camouflaged vehicles, including the upcoming 2012 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid.

Don’t forget to check out our Future Cars section to catch up on the latest news and spy photography for vehicles that Brenda has spotted years before their public debut. Finally, make sure you didn’t miss Brenda’s first and second editions of Leftlane’s Spy Diaries.

i’ve seen her name come up on so many spy shots i did start to wonder how she does it…that’s a very nice big fat multi-thousand dollar canon L-series lens on there, too…i’m jealous…i wonder if she needs interns ;P

My wife would be so envious of that lens, although she doesn’t shoot much that would require a lens like that.

As an avid photographer myself (for pleasure) that $12,000 lens would be nice to have but way too much money. Even used they sell for about $8,000-$9,000.

I would love to have a job like that.

Congrats Brenda on a job well done!

Leftwing, you could always become an amateur photographer yourself, I wrote yesterday about what I’ve seen in St. Louis in the past several years. You wouldn’t think of the Lous as a hotbed for prototypes, but just in the last month I’ve seen 2 Mustangs and 2 F-150s driving with the 5.0L under the hood, and a completely bare Suzuki Kizashi in the middle of St. Charles 2 weeks before Pebble Beach. In the past I’ve seen the redesign of the 2006 Explorer in very early 2005 before it was shown to the public and I saw a 2003 Expedition as far back as 2001.

That’s just what I’ve seen in passing, imagine what would be out there if you actually tried looking for these things.

Congrats Brenda, I’m jealous of what you do beyond what you can imagine!

Check out the local pawn shops for large camera lenses. You’d be surprised at the inventory they have and the money you will save

How is she any different from the scumbag papparazzis that go through celebrities trash or follow them where ever they go? This is just a form of theft as far as Im concerned. Shes just a parasite leeching off other peoples hard work and money. The iron thing is she goes ape**** if some other sites use her pics, which makes her a hypocrite too…I guess there is no honour among theives.

I think she could loose more then that. I wonder how many twinkies she molests during day in a desert waiting for cars to show up. To be that zaftig in a desert must be a natural skill. My hat off to ABC crew: imagine smell in that car above 110F?

I hope Brenda does like Jay and Silent Bob and finds all of your addresses and personally goes around and kicks all of your asses. The great work she does, and all we can manage to talk about is what you think of her looks. Male dominated site I know, but she’s just trying to take world class spy shots, not be Megan Fox in the process.

Also, I think her work is important. The early spy shots she gets prompt competitors to get wise to new cars coming out, which propmts them to compete, which drives up content and quality and down prices. if no one knew anything that was coming out until the auto companies wanted to show you, competition would take longer to get to market.

I don’t wish to spread any rumors, but Brenda was married to Michael Jackson after her secret divorce from Elvis. She’s also an extra-terrestrial alien from the planet Sargos 5 and a terrorist to boot. Plus, few know that she got into photography based on her excellent work for the KGB and the Red Chinese, and she’s passed on nuclear secrets to N. Korea and Iran….

Zfenderguy, you are talking out of your ass! the great work she does? I suppose you think the paps that photographed Princess Diana in the back of the merceded were doing great work too? She’s a leech plain and simple, I could care less how she looks.

If they didn’t want their up and coming models to be seen by the public, they wouldn’t drive them on tv I-15 between St. George and Mesquite so that I could pass them and see. I saw the Chevy Traverse in action on the freeway all covered in black and white camo. I could have snapped pictures.
