Nissan has filled a lawsuit in the United States demanding that Audi change the name of its new Q7 SUV. Nissan claims that the Q7 name will confuse buyers and could result in a loss of sales for its Infiniti QX utillity vehicle and Q45 saloon. The Q7 is Audi’s first off-roader and it derives its name from the Quattro four-wheel-drive system. The Q7 is set to go on sale next year, with other Q-series vehicles reportedly in the works. WhatCar? reports that Audi is considering the name “Pikes Peak,” a reference to a historic US motorsport event that was used on the original concept version of the car. Such a name would not fit with the rest of Audi’s naming system, which relies on letter-number combinations.
