07/18/2006, 9:37 AM

Lexus used the British Motor Show to unveil its new GS 300 LE (Limited Edition). Taking the current GS 300 SE as its starting point, it features a series of additional, exterior and interior style enhancements. On the outside, the new LE is distinguished by 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, an aerodynamic boot lip spoiler, extended side skirts and a front spoiler. Inside, there’s soft grey perforated leather upholstery, dark wood inserts for the doors and centre console and custom-designed floor mats, exclusive to the LE grade. These items are in addition to DVD-based satellite navigation with touch-screen operation; Smart Entry and Start; Bluetooth connectivity; electrically adjustable front seats with memory settings and integrated heating and ventilation functions; digital climate control air conditioning; High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS); 10-speaker sound system with in-dash six-disc CD autochanger; Park Assist Monitor and rear parking sensors; cruise control; automatic windscreen wipers; and a full suite of occupant airbags.

Limited means there are a Limited amount of suckers who will buy one of these crappers when a Cadillac would beter suit them and be much more dependable while offering higher levels of performance.

Don’t be one of those suckers

GMrules you’re an ignorant blind patriotic idiot. The GS and all other Lexus products are finely engineered vehicles that are FAR more reliable than Cadillac products, and find me a Cadillac that has fit and finish even remotely close to that of a Lexus. Sport is not the only thing that people consider when buying a car, you cant say that a Cadillac would better suit anyone buying a Lexus because not everyone is looking for the same thing, and you’re 100% wrong in saying a Caddy would be more dependable, the statistics show that Cadillac makes pretty damn unreliable vehicles and Lexus is the MOST reliable. so suck that.

Nope. Lexus has none of the Cachet or respect that Caddy has. It doesn’t have Magnaride or a motor like the Northstar V8 because Toyota couldn’t engineer a motor half as impressive as the Northie.

Lexus is a glorified econobox for idiots. I’ll take a Buick or a Caddy if I want a real luxury performance vehicle.

Lets face it. The Lexus Brand does manufacture “good” cars for people that want a nice ride, good quality, and great reliability. They’re cars are not ment for driving enthusiasts like Porsche, or BMW drivers. Lexus drivers just want to get from point A to B smoothly and quietly without really getting involved with the actual driving dynamics of an automobile. They want their cars to be there for when they need them and that’s it. Nothing more. You can’t be all things to all people. Not everyone lives by the “Lexus Philosophy”. There are those, like me that actually like a car that performs and rewards you with exceptional handling, the growl of an engine and the feedback of the road through the steering wheel. That is NOT how a Lexus buyer drives or desires their car to be. You can’t knock. It’s just a different approach to manufacturing an automobile. Good for some but not for all.

hey GM having owned 2 Caddy’s-in recent years and now an LS430–there is no comparison-the Lexus is a far better car, the build quality, features, ride and handling leaves GM in the dust–not to mention RESALE–the market votes–there is a reason GM is looking for an ‘alliance’-and that Toyota will pass them as the largest car maker–it’s called ENGINEERING.

Wow what a stupid decision swampgas. I guess there really is a sucker born every minute huh? Lexus is a glorified econobox built for fools with too much money.

You must have missed the memo. Everyone wants Cadillacs, not Lexus so you should be embarrassed

I used to enjoy reading comments on these pages but until Leftlanenews comes up with a way to stop blathering idiots from ruining this board I just might stop. All thats ever on them anymore is a stupid comment from those two (GMRules and the guy(s) who post under Anonymous) and then a page of people argueing with them. Its gotten ridiculous.

To all those people who choose to actually listen and respond to those two, you are only egging them on. Just take their comments for what they are – a joke. They do it for a reaction (kinda like this one)

Please, LeftLaneNews find a way to stop these guys from ruining these comment pages.

This is just their way of getting people to buy the 300 bc the 350 is coming. Kind of like last year when the ES had the Diamond Edition to persuade people to buy it in its last year of that body style. Honda does a similar tactic as well.

GMrules if Buick is real luxury performance vehicule to your eyes I think you should look at other places than GM… And no not everyone want a Caddy.

Lexus makes good product for middle range cars. What GM is missing currently is quality in the details and the feeling of it. You can’t feel that you’re in a quality car when there’s cheap plastic everywhere and shaky parts.

I think I understand now

Go check out GMInsider.com boards and you’ll understand where GMrules gets his attitude. Go read any pro-GM board and you’ll see where the “anti-anything that isn’t GM” attitude comes from.

There is a genuine HATE on the GM boards for anything from (Especially) Japan to Germany to even Detroits’ own backyard (Dearborn) and they wonder why more and more people are turned off from GM once and for all.

That “holier than thou” attitude from its fans is a real turnoff and reading how 30 years of Import success is a crock of **** and anyone who supports foriegn brands is an “UnAmerican A-hole who sends his money back to ” gets tiring. Frankly, I would much rather make my own decisions based on what the best vehicle is for me.

Like I said, check out the Pro GM boards if you are a fan of Lexus, BMW, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, whatever and it’ll piss you off how nasty things can get. I am a fan of pretty much all the brands out there but rabid GM fans (Like Mr. GMrules) have got to be the most ignorant and arrogant (No offense to anyone on LLN) opinionated persons in any of the Auto forums.

As seen here…

Patrick, I think you are just as biased as GMRules. In each one of your posts you flame American and praise Asian. What do you have to say about JD Power reporting that Buick is more reliable than Toyota? Are you gonna say JD Power is biased and Consumer Reports is right? Get a life.

Instead of copying Mercedes now they copy BMW, that’s their new L finesse design philosophy, they are cars for people who hate cars, just like their parent Toyota but with wealthier clients. Its 2006, every car is reliable, that is no longer anything to brag about.

yuck, Lexus , sigh
Joseph I agree that Lexus makes great cars. I just can’t emote with them though. Infiniti and Acura have more passion to me. I get a reaction good or bad from all the premmioum lux brands except for Lexus. Wierd.
