One look at this car and you might think it was destined for the SEMA car show later this month. But it was actually created by the folks at Lexus Australia for the upcoming Australian International Motor Show.
The chrome IS250 is the brainchild of the Lexus After Sales Division. In addition to the paintwork, the IS250 has been fitted with a new Lexus body kit – consisting of front lower spoiler, side skirts, rear lower skirt and a boot spoiler – which Lexus plans to introduce as a genuine Lexus Accessory late in 2006. It also features custom black aluminum wheels. Full image after the jump…

Another chrome car. It’s getting old ya know.
Well, not unless you have a talent for ryhming words into music and have a set of 30in spinner wheels to go along with it.

i know why the hell would you bother pimping an IS250
lexus blows, and the IS is the only remotely decent car they have, lets not ruin it with press releases like this

I think it looks good. It just looks like an unpainted body to me. Kind of like the old Silver Arrow cars. And its a good kit– not overdone in any way. It should’ve been an IS350 though.

Don’t like the dark wheels. But the chrome finish looks good. And Lexus builds a very nice ride.

“A4″ I noticed on all Toyota/Lexus blogs you bash the hell out of them. They must have done something wrong to you in another life. All I am trying to say is we get it already … you don’t like Toyota. To be honest, I have no idea why but it doesn’t matter.

GSH is right, it looks way better than an A4 and 3 series, almost as if they merged the two. Is it better to lose a tiny little bit of soul for Lexus customer service, build quality and reliability? The body kit is tasteful; my only hesitation is the grill above the bumper seems at odds with the grille below.

It looks nice but it doesn’t look remotely chrome-finished at all. They should have just left it alone.

LOL! I was actually wondering the same thing about “A4″, and why others just bash Toyota/Lexus.
Is it because they are so successful and have so much money? Is it because they sell like crazy? Is it because they are TOO reliable? Is it because the interior is TOO nice? Personally, after owning numerous vehicles with the so called “soul” (yes, European brands), I have no desire for anything else but a Lexus now. Why??? Well….it’s TOO reliable, it retains its value TOO well, it’s TOO quiet, the interior is TOO nice, the technology is TOO sweet, and they are very attractive vehicles.
Why can’t people just appreciate a well built vehicle. Does this mean that because I like Lexus, that I hate BMW? NO!

It would be REALLY nice if Lexus would actually offer a 60/40 folding rear seat. At least BMW and Audi offer that, so that I can fit my bike in. I was severely disappointed when I found out that Lexus doesn’t even have this as an option.
They should also offer the IS as a coupe. Not a small coupe, just the sedan with 2-doors. Don’t change the interior room much.
Seriously guys, these are amazing, top-quality cars. Why the hate??? It’s amazing how solid they are.

One hates Lexus, because the cars don’t meet the performance driver’s needs. This is changing, rapidly.

Personally, I like Lexus just fine but that chrome job looks like crap with those wheels. Couldn’t they have found some wheels that go better with that color? Meh, I prefer the brushed steel look more than chrome anyway. Not really liking that front end of the body kit either, come to think of it…

rofl, get real people, performance driver’s need? if youre looking for a track car, going to a luxury brand is your first mistake. people here are so naive, probably because theyre actually teens who only respect the most powerful or most expensive.

I recall a Bare Metal XJ Jaguar on the autoshow ciruit a few years back. They were showing off the then new all aluminum body, and I’ll say it looked really cool. But it wasn’t “chrome”, it was a tastful brushed aluminum, with a satin effect. It looked pretty sweet in person, for a 4 door anyway. This Lexus looks like crap. I’m pretty burned out on the “TUNER” look however. That’s so 2001…

Gsh nailed it! ha ha
I’ve been driving manuals for years (by choice) and I’m kinda sick of it now. With how good these manumatics have become (DSG), it’s hard to see why you’d really even want to bother with a manual. Especially so if you drive in any sort of stop and go traffic. My left leg is much stronger than my right! ha ha. For the most part, an auto is faster anyhow, so what’s the flippin’ point? To “look” cool? Maybe for teenagers, but not for people that work and commute for a living. Give me a car like an IS with a pretty quick motor, luxurious interior, sporty looks and some cool techno-gadgets. Hmmm, guess that’s what Lexus does, except for that darn folding rear seat!

I know what you’re saying 6ix, but I still like stirring my own gears. It’s a control thing for me. I simply feel more in control of the situation, be it downshifting for corners, or running out the revs down the on-ramp. Automatics take that away. And, simply, they bore me.
But it’s also all about where you live. If I lived on the hills of San Francisco, or gridlock of southern California, I’d get an autobox to creep in the freeway parking lot with. But I live in Portland Oregon, where I’ve got a wide open commute and TONS of twisty rural back-roads to play on.
