Lexus recently announced it will bump up prices slightly of three of its SUVs and the soon-to-be-discontinued 2009 SC 430 luxury hardtop convertible. The SUVs are 2009 model-year examples of the RX 400h hybrid SUV, along with the full-size GX 470 and LX 570 SUVs.
The SC 430 adds turn signals incorporated into the side-view mirrors for 2009, and an MSRP that grows to $66,805, representing a $450 or 0.7 percent increase. The 2009 LX 570 gets a new Costa Azul Mica color choice, with the base price jumping by 1.3 percent, or $1,005, to $75,705. A new Luxury Package will be offered on the full-size SUV, which includes semi-aniline, leather-trimmed seats, Bubinga wood trim, a cool box, smart card key and 20-inch wheels in a unique finish.
The GX 470 receives no changes for 2009, save for a price increase of $300, or 0.6 percent, to $47,615. The hybrid RX 400h is likewise the same as it was in 2008, though the front and all-wheel drive models are now $500 more expensive, at $42,080 and $43,480, respectively.
None of the above MSRPs include a prep fee of $825.

Raising list price on those trucks is silly: they will not be selling without really huge discounts. Except hybrid.

$76k for a rebadged Tundra with a roof over the back? People are idiots… I see one of these trucks, I look at the driver, and I think “what a shmuck that guy is”

There is no Tundra in Lexus line up. Re badged or otherwise. Land Rover yes, Tundra nope. There is hybrid Hylander in different sheet metal but no Tundra.

Xyunya, Tundra = Sequoia = LX 570.
Much like
F150 = Expedition = Navigotor, or
Titan = Armada = QX56

Nope, LX570 = Land Cruiser, in production by Toyota for over 40 years. Tundra & Sequoia are US mostly platform. Land Cruiser made Toyota popular all over the globe.

Yeah, you’re right but I’ve always thought of the Sequoia as a watered-down Land Cruiser. Probably some platform differences there, but I lump all those things in the same boat, or should I say “in the same bloat“

Everything got bloated now. I recall being stuck with 320i in dunes on Cape Cod and kid with Land Cruiser pulled me out. It was same size as Jeep (CJ) and much smaller then a Wagoneer.
Today LX 570 & Land Cruiser are somewhat equivalent to Range Rover: smooth ride, decent acceleration; gentleman’s Safari ride. Tundra is a cheap truck – attempt to chase F 150. Totally different market segment.

xyunya – you’re right – I thought the LX 570 was based on the Sequoia/Tundra platform, but its not.
I still don’t understand the price of this thing, regardless.

The Luxe-Truck market is aimed at one single customer: realtors. Now only the realtors that can make million-dollar home sales are still working, as everyone below that segment can’t free up any credit or unload their old house anymore. Thus, the remaining realtors are richer, and need to be relieved of some excess cash.

My guess is that steel and all other metals are more then doubled in the past year. I think 1-2% is very reasonable considering realistic inflation rate. You should see how much ammo went in price. More then doubled.

Don’t kid yourselves, they’d jack ‘em up more if they thought they could get away with it.

02WRXPSM, not entirely correct. The hooker who blew governor Spitzer (NY state) out of the offices reportedly drives Land Rover. She does not sell real estate

There had been a lot of pent up demand for the new LX 570 since the LX 470 was so very old. Dealers day supplies on the new LX are very low so now, if any, would be the time to raise prices. And dealers also can’t get enough RX 400h’s. On the other hand, internally, we can’t figure out why GX 470 sales haven’t dropped off; They are still selling strong and gaining market share; it perplexes us.
