Another poster who doesnt realize whatclass this car is in
The Navigator and Escalade are larger than this and compete with the LX 470
While this is not my style I would never buy ANY D3 car over it base on .. you know the rest

Perhaps in the US, in the Gulf you’ll see Porsche Cayennes, LR3s, LExus LX570s and even the occasional doomed Range Rover ramming their way through the dunes. But I’ll promise you this, you won’t see anyone stupid enough to try it in a Lameda.

Oh, and a Ford Expedition King Ranch or a Lincoln Navigator will also out-class the GX. King Ranch leather makes the Lexus GX’s leather seem like vinyl by comparison. If you don’t believe me, check it out yourself.

This thing is a complete waste of time. What good is off-road capability if none of the buyers will ever use it off-road? NOBODY goes rock crawling with a $52k Lexus SUV.

I would much rather have a Rover LR3 or an Escalade. The LR3 has even better off-road capability than this GX and looks better inside and out. The Escalade doesn’t have the same off-road capability, but it certainly has more than enough that any luxury SUV owner will ever need, while also looking much better inside and out, and offering much more luxury features, power, and room.

The Buick Enclave is the Standard in this class. The GX is like aTrailblazer built by one of the worst companies out there. Decent but outdated, and in this case dinged for poor Toyota quality and reliability. Everyone would much rather drive a Lambda ute than a Toyota POS.

Good luck seeing a Saudi sheikh in a Prado (or even less likely a Lexus, since that model isn’t sold in the Gulf). Nothing less than a Land Cruiser will do for those discerning chaps.

The Prado is a fine offroader and if I were getting one as my daily driver then I’d be interested in upgrading to a Lexus, although the running boards and deep front bumper would be seeing the inside of a dustbin pretty soon.

I have a 4-Runner and I’ve driven this thing. The GX is very plush, and if was offered both at the same price, I may have taken the GX…I still love my 4-Runner though. Lexus is still incredible. I wish I could afford and LX570…

P.S.- Dr. Fill has a good point. This is 50x better than any Bimmer or Audi SUV. Keep preaching, Brother Fill.

Man, you guys are hard on this car. First, good review Andrew. Is hill descent common on other vehicles? I thought that was a Land Rover thing.

I think it looks pretty good – it’s an old-school SUV. The rest of you must just be in love with jellybean shapes like the MDX. Blah. That said, I didn’t even realize this was the same as the Prado! I will laugh the next time I see a soccer mom behind the wheel of one of these. Thanks for the laugh…….!!

My mom has a white ‘06 one of these. She says it’s the best car she has ever owned but to me it rides like any other SUV and has an average interior. But it hasn’t had one single problem yet and it’s very safe so it’s good in my book.

They still make this ? Its too tall and thin I think this is still based on the 4 Runner which I guess they still make as well
Bottom line its still better than any comparable american truck in its class like an Aspen Current SRX or Envoy
