With reports of a special edition Lexus LFA Nürburgring Track Edition circling the internet rumor mill, it seems appropriate that Lexus has just announced a track-prepared LFA will be headed back to the Nürburgring for the nameplate’s third 24 hour race.
Although this will be the LFA’s third race at Germany’s famed Nürburgring, it marks the first time a production version of the LFA will circle the 13-mile track. The 24 hour endurance race will take place in mid-May.
Like the production car, the race-ready LFA will feature a high-revving, 552 horsepower V10 engine. The racing version of the LFA can scoot from 0-60 in under 3.7 seconds, hitting a top speed in excess of 200 mph.
Two LFAs will be entered in the event, both prepared by Gazoo racing. Piloting the racecars will be four Japanese and three German drivers. The event is scheduled for May 13-16.
