The Lexus LFA is already a high-performance machine, but the Japanese luxury automaker hopes to make things even more precise with its new LFA Nürburgring Package.

Just 50 Nürburgring-badged models will be available, each aimed at delivering more track-focused performance thanks to improved aerodynamics, a lowered suspension and some powertrain changes.

The package celebrates Lexus’ class victories at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring last May. Lexus isn’t actually adding to LFA production; instead, the automaker says that 50 of the 500 cars set to be built will be equipped with the package.

Stepping up
Several carbon fiber reinforced plastic fins and spoilers help increase high speed downforce. A large front spoiler, fin-type side spoilers, a canard fin and a fixed rear wing all differ from the comparatively sedate standard LFA.

Ride height is dropped 10 mm and the suspension has been fine tuned for even more on-track precision. A set of exclusive mesh wheels are wrapped in high performance tires unique to the LFA Nürburgring Edition.

Underhood, the LFA’s 4.8-liter V10 has been massaged for an additional 10 horsepower, bringing the total to 562 ponies. Lexus says that the change was made to ensure that the car could still hit 62 mph in 3.7 seconds despite the additional downforce and drag. The standard six-speed sequential transmission still fires off shifts in just 0.15 seconds.

Lexus will offer the car in matte black, white, black or orange. Interiors will be available in red, black and purple or a business-like all black. European customers will get carbon fiber sports seats covered in Alcantara as well as carbon fiber center console and door covers that replace the leather and Alcantara units used in standard LFAs.

Taking delivery
Buyers will be treated to a one-on-one driving instruction at the Nürburgring’s famous Nordschleife circuit with a professional driver. A one year pass to the track will also be included with purchase, allowing owners to exercise their LFAs at their discretion.

At $465,000, the LFA Nürburgring Package is the most expensive Japanese car ever offered to consumers. All LFA Nürburgring Packages will be built during 2012, the car’s second full year of production. Here’s to hoping that Paris Hilton’s LFA isn’t one of these.
