it is a nice mind boggling car. Thanks to johnnycanuck for detail exploration of its luxury features and interesting applications well beyond Lexus's creativity, I am still disturbed by the fact that the mileage is not where it should be. Let see 110K and change gets you 20/22 mpg and the same car without electric motors and batteries cost about 73K (maybe 80K with all additional gadgetry, such as snatchcorder). The mileage of proletariat edition Lexus is 16/24 or average 20 mpg (1 less then green one). BTW, green label can be given not so much for planet saving features as for color of additional green required to sit in one. I came with a practical solution to my discomfort: buy proletariat version for about 75-80K and Volt (when it will come out) for additional 30-40K. Or even a Prius today and the rest burn on gas. It probably will not bode well with high brow folks who will ride this.

It's nice, to be chauffeered in it - it has one of the nicest back seat areas short of a Rolls. But the hybrid option is just a waste of money and trunk space. Firstly, nobody who can afford this car gives a crap about fuel economy (if they do, then they're a hypocrite). Secondly, the fuel economy gains over the non-hybrid model of this car is very slight - like 1 or 2 MPG better average. You can get all of the luxury and features of this car in the regular LS460L. Spending another $20-30k just you can have a hybrid badge is idiotic, IMO.

This is an anwesome car, if we think it by itself then it is expensive, but when we compare to it competition then the price tag is reasonable. My concern is how long will the battery last and what happen with the temperature reach -30 degree will it effect the battery. I read some article saying it is better bet to go for LS 460L due to the battery concern. I love how the gear shift in the sport mode you can see up to 8 speed, the self parking is awesome, the hard drive, voice activation and the touch screen unlike the Idrive. Alot of critic saying Lexus is not a driving car yet. I would say it is very close.

I'm not sure what karfreek13 is referring to but in their pr literature, Lexus still calls the LS460L their "flagship" (hence our online description of the model) but the LS600h L clearly has more power, more features, and a much bigger price tag.

The LS is a far better looking large sedan than the 7 series, but it takes The Relentless Pursuit Of Boredom to the furthest extreme. Then again, have you ever seen anyone driving a Lexus and thought <i>"damn, I wish I were you!"</i> Didn't think so.

What if the camera on the steering column catches me picking my nose? Is there some kind of alert to tell me I'm digging with the wrong finger or perhaps at the wrong angle to drill out one of those hard to reach b*stards way in there? Perhaps they could also install one underneath the column called the 'snatch cam' so that when I lend my car to the hot new secretary there's documented evidence as to whether or not she's going commando. And maybe I just want to see what I look like lip syncing to Rob Zombie's 'Demon Speeding' while doing 3 times the limit through a school zone. F*ck me, I tell you the possibilities are endless. Too bad it's got a small trunk because that's the only place to keep the keg out of view.

Just a quick fact-check for you guys, the hybrid version of Lexus' flagship is the LS600h L (not 460), to denote equivalent power of a 6.0L V12 – like its competitors. The LS460 L is the gas-only powered, long-wheelbase LS. :o)

I saw $118,000 and stopped reading. I guess I'm cheap.

But I think we should start placing bets on the results of the fight. $5.00 says both these guys get banned before tomorrow afternoon.
