Lexus has announced pricing for its oft-forgotten 2013 GX 460 SUV. The GX remains one of the few mid-size SUVs to employ a body-on-frame platform, making it a formidable off-road machine.

Although the 2013 GX 460 carries over unchanged from last year's model, the rugged SUV will arrive with a starting price of $53,445, representing a $200 increase over last year's model. Stepping up the the range-topping GX 460 Premium will require $58,240, which is also a $200 increase over the outgoing model.

Both prices exclude a $875 destination fee.

Described as a "right sized" mid-size SUV by Lexus, the GX 460 is capable of towing a truck-like 6,500 pounds while still carrying seven-passengers in comfort. Those seeking the GX's unique blend of truck-ruggedness and Lexus levels of comfort might want to hasten their purchase decision as the SUV will eventually ditch its body-on-frame roots for a more fuel-efficient unibody package.
