Lexus has been pretty good about keeping its upcoming 2010 RX crossover hidden from spy photographers, but our photographers have now spotted the RX while out testing twice in the last two days. This is only the third sighting of the RX in the last year.
The 2010 RX isn’t expected to diverge too much front the current SUV’s styling, but it should sport a more modern exterioir. The waterfall-style front grille looks like it grows a little bit, not a surprise given the RX as a whole is expected to grow about two inches in length. We’re expecting the same 3.5 liter V6 that’s in the current model, although it’ll be hooked up to a 6-speed automatic transmission, one more ratio than the current vehicle offers.
It is belived that the 2010 model will offer a three-row version for the first time in the nameplate’s history. What this could do to the more upmarket three-row GX470 is a question. The GX470 seems to be exceeding sales targets, but it’s a much more rugged truck-based vehicle based on the same platform as Toyota’s 4Runner.
A hybrid version of the RX is definitely on the production calendar. It’s rumored to exceed 400 horsepower when it arrives in 2010 as a 2011 model. The base RX350 is to begin production in December of 2008 with an on-sale date in early 2009.

Based on the head of the driver it is hard to fathom 3 row seating in this wagon, but he may have swelled head. I think we exhausted discussion of inadequacies of this vehicle today or yesterday.
His head is very swelled because he’s driving a Lexus. And a prototype, to boot.
I think Toyota/lexus showed some touch of brilliance by not f*cking with success. They are selling them like no other SUV/CUV in its class and not because it is the cheapest of the bunch. BMW/Mini did the same smart thing. Beetle had the same shape for over 50 years, Citroen DS for almost 30, Range Rover is “back to the future” of ‘74. If you pegged it right, leave it alone. You have better probability to screw it up then make it better (BMW Z4).
Looks like a RAV4 with a mask on. Why is Danny so mad?
It IS a RAV-4 with a mask on.
You say they ****ed up the Z4. How is that when they only made the Z4. IT was not a updated Z3. THe Z4 is a car of its own. Just like the Z8. NOt repleacements. But new different cars. There is a new Z4 coming out in the next few years. THen you can say weather or not they messed up the Z4. THe only way the Z3 got ****ed was they quite making it.
It doesn’t matter how many seat rows it has, it only needs 3 seats, The Soccer mom’s one, Timmy’s and Jimmy’s, and a 5 cubic ft. trunk for a couple of Soccer balls, a big sports bag and 5 training cones, and Yes, I know you’ve seen that in a Toyota commercial.
Z3 was selling like hot cakes. When Z4 came about, Z3 was discontinued. Call it what you want, but Z4 was inches away in every dimension from Z3. BTW, Z4 does not sell nowhere near the volume of Z3.
It’s like a tampon dispenser on wheels.
such a feminine design, but then I suppose that makes good marketing sense
