The next generation Lexus RX line of SUVs, which are due for the 2009 model year, could include a third row of seats in order to compete better with the Mercedes-Benz ML and the Acura RDX , among others. The new RX will build on the current model’s design themes (shown) and will almost certainly include a hybrid version.
British magazine AutoExpress reports that the 7-seat RX will likely debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, where it will be badged a Lexus, not a Toyota . The current model and its predecessor were both badged Toyota Harriers in Japan. The RX will be the first Lexus-badged SUV in the home market.
