The SC430 big-dollar hard-top convertible has been in Lexus' range since 2002, with an SC coupe in the range since 1991, though never as a hardtop convertible.

Minor changes for 2008 include revised scuff plates with white illumination and Golden Almond Metallic as a new exterior color, as well as a new Pebble Beach Edition option in an attempt to keep the long-toothed model fresh.
Power comes from a 4.3 liter V8, the LS sedan's old engine. In the SC, it makes 288 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 317 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 rpm. It is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic with sequential shift ability driving the rear wheels. The EPA estimates the SC will consume gasoline at a rate of 16 mpg in the city cycle and 23 mpg on the highway.
That automatic hard-top hides away under a hard plastic cover in just 25 seconds. Lexus jokingly lists the car as a four-seat convertible, but we bet little people would have a tough time sitting behind each other.
The standard safety features on the SC include six airbags, including knee bags, traction and stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-lock brakes, brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. HID headlights, LED taillights and a Mark Levinson sound system with 9 speakers and a six disc CD changer are also included.
The aforementioned Pebble Beach Edition is the only package option on the SC, and it includes a trim-exclusive Smoky Granite Mica color, and two-tone Camel and Ecru leather-trimmed interior with espresso bird's-eye maple wood trim, 18-in six-spoke alloy wheels shod in all-season run-flat tires, Pebble Beach badges throughout, Pebble Beach carpeted floor mats and a rear spoiler.
Buyers foregoing this trim have the following standalone options to choose from: a choice of three 18-inch wheel styles, a rear spoiler, wheel locks, a turnk mat, cargo net and car cover.
