Almost no one, apparently

1115: As you have pointed out, (and I'll quote you VERBATIM) I can afford a Datsun, a LexuryScion or an Adnoh. However, Nissan had nothing that fit my needs (Murano/FX only seats 5, ARmada/QX56 is truck-based and the Quest is a Minivan)
AND TOYONDAS ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

Dont be mad bc you can afford an A—a L—s or Infiniti

Funny how people complained about Lexus' lack of performance oriented vehicles in the past, and now that Lexus is starting to put them out, there are still idiots who will never accept the fact. One would have to be absolutely retarded to not see the hypocrisy there.

Well you can only afford a Buick on your janitor salary so Acura Lexus and Infiniti are out of your price range When you go to your credit union they give you a list of shitty cars that you qualify for and Buick bc GM is desparate to sell anything was on that list Keep dreaming of the day you can have a real car made by the Japanese
Anyway
Lexus does NOT need a smaller 1 series competitor That one series looks like shit and its overpriced. It was a mistake and BMW will see
They could use a small truck being that MB and others are making smaller suvs and more performance oriented cars
They need to have the IS in a coupe and convertibel form to compete with the Bavarians
Im not too fond of the IS but its good comp Personally I would get a g35 but thats just me

"I bet the F-GS would sell well in san francisco."

mayer_ray_nagin, if you're going to leave a comment, try not to embarrass yourself by making yourself sound like an asinine sixth grader. Assuming that you are, in fact, an adult, your immaturity is hilariously unbelievable.

"And yet Lexus still can't come close to matching the quality, durability and especially the desirablility of the Cadillac and Buick marques. Still just gussied up POS toyotas."

The interesting thing is that this will go directly against their green image. I am glad to see that they'll do actual engines for power versus batteries and electric motors. I got to sit in the LF-A test mule a couple months back. Nearly has an orgasm hearing it. I didn't get to drive it but it has a DSG type box setup. hopefully we'll get manuals in the future too. If it finds its way into the next-gen GS, someone's (me) gonna lose their license.

This will be interesting. V-10 conversions for Camry's!!!!

Andrew- Believe it or not, Buick's very well up there. What really suprised me was when I heard that Lincoln was even closer to that mark. Not as good as Lexus, but very good in terms of other brands.

Impressive how everybody managed to ignore poster #5's comments :)
I am happy to see Lexus finally getting serious about performance. I think the LS-F would compete more with the S63 Merc (rather than S65) and the Audi S8. The GS-F is much needed, especially if the price is reasonably cheaper than an M5 although that segment is getting crowded...Audi RS6 is coming soon and the CTS-V is very promising.

I hope Infiniti finds the gumption to build some performance variants...I mean a G37 with a turbo will easily provide M3-like performance and the M45 is not a bad candidate for a similar intervention. Nisaan has NISMO, so why not INFINIMO for Infiniti? let's heat up the market with more high performance sports sedans, so that when they are available used, men oh men, we can start the cherry pickin'!!

Easy post to follow.....
The next Prius should creep up in price to just south of $25k, and a Lexus variant will easily fetch $30k, with a slight penalty in EPA, with the added weight and lux features added.
I guess the GS-F will make the next generation.
Hopefully the next design will be more aggressive and adventurous.
The LS-F would compete with the S65.
The LF-A will have no competition ;)

lateapex - that's not what the article says (right now at least, LLN does have a history of grammar and other mistakes) But this is talking about the LEXUS brand of Toy selling 1 million vehicles, not Toy themselves which have sold million plus vehicles for probably more than the past decade.

But you do have a point because whoever wrote this wrote "beens" instead of "beans". That is definitely not a accidental mistake. I think the writer might actually believe that "beans" is spelled "beens". Which is ridiculously embarassing

And yet Lexus still can't come close to matching the quality, durability and especially the desirablility of the Cadillac and Buick marques. Still just gussied up POS toyotas.

1 Series competitor? I sure hope that's the Lexus IS coupe. I'd hate to think of Lexus building a car smaller than the IS. As it is, whenever I get into my friend's IS 250, I feel like I'm strapping myself into a rollercoaster-cramped to say the least. In my opinion, the IS should be the 1 series competitor and the ES should be positioned as the 3-Series competitor.

Somebody will probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the GS is rear wheel drive. If Lexus used the GS underpinnings for the next ES, it could play in the realm with the 3 Series and G35. But that's why I'll probably never see the IS as direct competition to BMW's 3...it's just way too small.

Toyota sold 9.37 million vehicles worldwide this year.

Whoever is writing for you seems to lack basic understanding of English grammar, syntax, rules of punctuation, etc. There are regular errors in facts, and an apparent lack of proofreading.

For the last few months, I often think that I am reading stories by a fourteen year old. I like the concise format of your site, but think that I will return to more professional sources for auto headlines.

How about some dedicated models?
I shall henceforth refer to toyota's faux luxury division as "Scion."
