The car reportedly sports parts from McLaren's Special Operations catalog. While the oily bits of the car remain untouched, the Project Alpha car sports a number of body pieces that differentiate it from the regular car. These include louvered front fenders, a gloss black finish for the roof, front splitter, rear spoiler, and the inside of the wheels. The interior gets more carbon fiber trim along with extra splashes of Alcantara, along with a number of Project Alpha badges and a plaque that denotes the limited edition model.
The cars are reportedly 2012 models but received an update to 2013-spec, meaning it gets more power thanks to a new exhaust, Bluetooth functionality, navigation, and an optional suspension that raises the front of the car as needed.
McLaren Special Operations is also responsible for the one-off X-1 Concept recently shown at The Quail in Monterey, California.
The cars will only be available in white, orange, or gray, with two examples of each made. Pricing reportedly sits at $335,000 or significantly higher than the base 2013 MP4-12C's $268,250 price of entry. That's not stopping from four of the six to already finding buyers, however.
