I'll agree with the first comment. Wouldn't it be distinctive if the BMW 5 series were still called the Bavaria? Remember the very successful Acura Integra, and how comparitavely unsuccessful the replacement RSX is? Most people could never connect jumbles of letters like NSX, RSX, TSX, MDX to the correct vehicle if they had to, unless you worked at an Acura dealer. Everybody knows what a Tarus, Accord and Camry are. Hey, I drive a Cadillac ETC...hahahaha! I'd like to have a lengthy conversation with the guy at GM that came up with ETC as a car name. Just because collective stupidity has been saturating the marketing end of the auto industry does not mean Lincoln, or any one else should jump on that bandwagon. The alphabetic names are just a bunch of lame ass BS.

Although people will decry the loss of yet another series of great nameplates, the fact of the matter is that this is what the modern luxury buyer expects. Everyone from Cadillac to Acura has had to bow to this reality.

What Lincoln really needs to focus on now is their product...

What a transparently bad idea. I'm so tired of meaningless alpha/numeric names from auto manufacturers. One of the better naming schemes was done by Bosch's radio division Blaupunkt which uses the names of cities for their products. I Nissan uses "Blue Bird" for one of their cars which is a refreshing sounding name which could easily be linked to some memorable marketing, or eye catching emblems.
