The 7-year-old boy that played "Little Darth Vader"Â in Volkswagen's popular Super Bowl commercial is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after having what doctors deemed a successful open-heart surgery.

Doctors say Little Vader, whose real name is Max Page, is recovering well after a two-hour surgery to replace his pulmonary valve. Page was born with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, which affects the heart's pulmonary valve.

"The surgery today went well," Dr. Vaughn Starnes, who performed the procedure and is co-director of the heart institute at the hospital, told Reuters.

"We had to replace his pulmonary valve and we did it without incident," Starnes said. "The surgery took two hours and there were no complications."

Page rose to stardom for his role in VW's 2011 Super Bowl commercial. Dressed as a pint-sized version of Darth Vader, Page tried unsuccessfully to use "The Force"Â to start a dryer and awaken the family dog. Page was able to use his power to start a Volkswagen Passat, unbeknownst to him that his father actually started the car with a remote control.

In addition to the VW commercial, Page has also appeared on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" and NBC's "Prime Suspect"Â.
