British exotic sportscar maker Lotus Cars and high performance engine maker Cosworth Group have teamed up to produce high performance engines for future Lotus products. The partnership will put Cosworth in charge of upgrading the Toyota -sourced motors used in Lotus road cars – as well as assembly by Cosworth for racing and motorsport engines.
Lotus has had a busy few days with model releases at Geneva, and now the major news that it will once again be working with world-renowned high-performance engine maker – Cosworth.
“The ties between Lotus and Cosworth are, of course, already historical ones but our new strategic relationship is based purely on Cosworth’s competencies, brand and race engine development capabilities. This new strategic partnership will align two of the most renowned names in the automotive world and will be of huge benefit for both organizations,” said Dany Bahar, CEO, Group Lotus.
The first application of Cosworth’s engine expertise will be with the new Lotus Evora Cup racing car.
