Wow they take an underpowered car and reduce its output, then call it Club Racer. That’s gay. I love the Elise but even 190hp isn’t enough. What is 134hp going to do?

To those wondering about the low horsepower figure, the 134hp variant–the Elise S–was released as an ENTRY-level model, designed to fill the void left by the departure of the rover-engined models of old. The Club Racer is a limited edition take on the Elise S.

For those desiring more power, there are many other incarnations of Elise to choose from, many of which will WHOMP their road/track competition, not just on the twisties, but off the line too.

I applaud Lotus for offering a stripped down version at a budget pric, for those that want to experience the thrill, but can’t quite afford the premium. Again, don’t complain about the anemic base model. If you want more power, there’s more power.

The “normal” models have 189HP. Why make a club racer with a lower HP engine??

134 is all you need, trust me. You will not believe the influence that weight has on a car and its power, handling and acceleration until you try one of these. That being said, the Elise and the other models get their asses kicked on the highway. I’ve passed them easily, and I saw one get in a tussle with a Corvette a while back and get left behind at the altar.

^ if the elise with 134hp can reach them. This thing does 0-60 as fast as an audi a4 2.0t, and i’m pretty sure the audi has a higher top speed.

Do Lotus come out with a special edition Elise every other month? That being said, it’s one hell of a sweet go-cart…so I don’t mind looking at extra pictures of their latest model.

On a complete pointless side note: There’s a guy with a green Elise who lives near my house…I’ve wanted to stop and see if he wants to go for a cruise sometime (i.e. playfully race my Z on some of the twisty roads in our rural neck of the woods)…but I think he’s a cop b/c there is always an undercover Crown Vic parked in the driveway (I can see the LED light’s in the front and rear windows). It’s kind of an unusual dilemma…do off-duty cops care about speed limits?

Any new elise is awesome. I have this weird, unconditional love for lotus. They could put a piece of poop on 6 spoke alloys, and I’d be like, “Sahweeeeeeet, it’s a lotus!”

That said, I kinda expected something that is designated “club racer” to have more racing-oriented accoutrements…not just an upgraded interior and special colors. Oh well. I’ll still have one please.
