As the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance fast approaches, Lotus has begun to reveal the details of its all-new extreme performance track car.
Lotus first showed off the Exos Type 125 at the Monterey Motorsports Pre-reunion this past weekend at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca racetrack. The location couldn’t be more fitting, as the 125 is a purpose-built track-only racecar, which should be very evident from its F1 design cues.
The 125 features a 3.5-liter Cosworth V8 engine, pumping out an impressive 650 horsepower at 10,300 rpms. Lotus didn’t forget to go lightweight with the 125 either, opting to utilize a carbon fiber monocoque chassis for strength, while keeping the weight down to just over 1,400 lbs.
Since this car is fully intended to be driven hard and fast, Lotus equipped it with proper front and rear wings, again, just like the F1 formula racing cars. The added downforce will help owners keep the car on the track, something they will want to focus on given the price of $1 million per car – with only 25 set to be produced.
