Lotus has made some small but important improvements to its 2006 Elise roadster,, as highlighted in a new AutoWeek review. The interior has been improved for increased comfort, with multi-density foam on the updated seats, and even an optional extruded aluminum cupholder. The taillights are now LEDs, which look nicer and incorporate reflectors, thus eliminating the the separate ones that mounted below the bumper last year. Lotus even fixed the canvas top’s tendency to leak, making the car suitable for year-round use. Originally, the canvas roof was designed as an emergency measure, should you get caught in the rain. “It was just meant to get you home. About the time we got stickers printed up to warn customers that ‘This roof may leak,’ we got it stopped,â€? Adams says. The car still weighs under 2000lbs, and can hit 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
