The Lotus 2-Eleven is already one of the most potent track toys money can buy, but the English automaker is one-upping the 2-Eleven with an even more high-performance variation. Dubbed the Lotus Sport 2-Eleven GT4 Supersport, the new version of the racer is now the “pinnacle of the 2-Eleven range.â€
Using the 2-Eleven as a foundation, Lotus Sport created an all-out racer designed to conform to the SRO GT4 rule book. Modifications include plenty of body work – including a carbon fiber rear wing and diffuser — a full roll cage and a sequential gearbox.
The GT4’s powerplant has been massaged to produce 15 more horsepower, bringing total output to 270 ponies. Torque figures check in at 181 lb-ft.
Power is routed through a six-speed sequential gearbox, which is tied into the engine management system to ensure torque is kept in check during shifting. The system also features no-lift shifting and a rev matching blip on downshifts.
Deliveries of the GT4 Supersport are scheduled to begin in March 2009, with a price tag of £78,255. Lotus will initially only produce 10 examples of the GT4, but the package can be retrofitted to exiting 2-Elevens.
