Lotus to offer factory-installed XM Satellite Radio

Lotus Cars USA announced today that its award-winning 2006 Lotus Elise sports car will feature factory-installed XM Satellite Radio in all models equipped with a new Premium Pack option. The XM Radio-equipped 2006 Lotus Elise, the company’s best-selling sports car ever, is currently on display at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, which is now open to the public.

Audiophiles who specify their 2006 Lotus Elise with the optional Premium Pack ($695) enjoy a factory-installed Alpine AM/FM/XM Single CD Tuner along with additional upgrades designed to enhance the Elise motoring and listening experience even further. And, because the Elise’s unique construction allowed engineers to conceal the antenna within the instrument panel, the car’s sleek sports car lines are maintained.

“We are delighted that one of the world’s legendary sports car brands has selected XM Satellite Radio as their long-term satellite radio partner,” said Paul Kirsch, vice president of OEM, XM Satellite Radio. “The Lotus Elise already delivers a category-leading level of personalization and the addition of XM Radio moves the benchmark even higher.”

“Every element of the Lotus Elise stays true to our unique philosophy of less weight/more performance,” said John English, president of Lotus Cars USA. “The ability to integrate XM Radio’s powerful programming in one compact audio unit is yet another way we heed founder Colin Chapman’s mantra.”

Every 2006 Lotus Elise with the Premium Pack also comes standard with three months of complimentary XM service. XM subscribers pay a monthly fee of $12.95 for XM Satellite Radio’s award-winning, around-the-clock programming.
