Lotus to show Exige Sport 240

Lotus announced it will debut the fastest Exige in Lotus history at this October’s Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. Dubbed the Lotus Exige Sport 240, the car will feature a 240 horsepower supercharged engine, a limited-slip rear differential, electronic launch control and adjustable traction control. The Exige Sport 240 will be offered exclusively in the Australian market.

The Sport 240 will out-accelerate the Exige S, taking just 4.2 seconds to go from 0-62, and will hit a top speed of about 155 mph. The Sport 240 will also feature a new performance-oriented air conditioning system. The new system will only weigh 33 pounds and features a sensor that turns off the compressor at full-throttle to preserve maximum performance. The Sport 240 will hit showrooms shortly after its October debut, although pricing has yet to be announced.

Nice, but I wish Lotus would come out with a short production super car (and no, I don’t mean the Esprit, I’m talking about something that looks like the Lotus Elise and goes 200 mph+), or a 300 hp Lotus Elise. It seems like Lotus is very slowly creeping up the horsepower ladder, every new model goes up a few horsepower and so on and so forth.

That’s really awesome, but I wish they’d put actual logos on the back instead of cheap stickers. It wouldn’t be that much of a performance drag.

I’m not buying that old xxxx. It’s been around forever and now that Lotus is under Malaysian or whatever ownership, this car is never gonna get updated. Lotuses were (and will be for the short-term) pretty sweet cars though.

This Version of the elise and exige have only been on the market for like 3 years, thats not long for a sports car of this nature, the orignal Espirt was on the market for something like 25 years…

Currently Lotus builds track rat cars; not exactly suited for being 200+ mph monster.

They need to drop the Celica engine for something with more potential. But HP doesnt always mean better performance. They might have this car worked out so well that more hp could screw up the dynamics of its track ability. This is Lotus we’re talking about here.

Lotus is by far the best English car company. Usually British cars just don’t cut it for me, but Lotus, their genius.

Ford used a/c shutoff since the 1980’s. 25 year old electronics.

BUT: the car is beyond Corvette or Viper or Porsche.

I think only the Atom is a more light = fast = outrun car.

My mate already has a high powered supercharged Elise (supercharged Type-R engine) and as it doesn’t have the exige handling capabilities it may be safe to say it’s dangerous on the road! :P

There’s only one problem with cars like lotus, and Porsche. Their amazing machines, fun to drive, but people who own them always believe their above other car enthusiasts. Just because someone likes a car a car that provides a nice smooth ride, or they like a car with neck snapping torque, doesn’t mean their below someone who likes graceful handling. Personally, I like a balance between power and handling, leaning a little towards power, hence my love of corvettes. However, i don’t think I’m above people who just like straight up neck snapping torque. Or someone who likes to be surrounded with lots of personal luxuries. Car enthusiasts should stick together, not stick our noses up to people with different tastes, and claim they just don’t understand.

Damn I hate it when Deanster gets deleted - I wasn’t generalising Toxin, I was replying to a comment from Deanster which has offended our cyber-nanny.
