It’s no secret that Porsche is trying to acquire a majority stake in the Volkswagen Group, but Porsche has run into some problems with the state of Lower Saxony, VW’s second biggest shareholder. Earlier this month the state of Lower Saxony said that it would block Porsche’s proposal for restructuring VW’s voting structure, but it is only now becoming clear how serious Lower Saxony is about keeping Porsche out of power.
Police have launched an investigation into a possible case of eavesdropping involving Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking. According to Spiegel magazine, security officials discovered a switched-on babyphone behind Wiedeking’s hotel room sofa. Wiedeking was staying at the hotel while in town for a supervisory board meeting of Volkswagen.

Porsche and local officials are keeping tight lipped about the incident, but Porsche officials did confirm that “something” had been found in Wiedeking’s room, according to Automotive News.

Porsche has also filed a complaint with police that the phone of Uwe Hueck, chief of Porsche’s workers council, has been tapped.
