Lutz: being number one unimportant

GM’s product chief Bob Lutz shared his thoughts yesterday on the possibility of GM losing its position as the number one automaker to Toyota. “I’d prefer it if Toyota did not overtake us and we’ll do everything we can to try and make it not happen, but looking at their growth in other markets they may be difficult to stop,” he said. “Actually being number one does not really matter to the buying public and the media might not want to gang up on us as much for being the big guy. Being number one is just good for our self esteem and there is no economic effect.â€? In terms of GM’s lack of leadership in environmentally friendly systems, Lutz said, “the fact that we left it to other companies to take the lead was a mistake.”

Who are these people, and why haven’t they lost their jobs yet? Being number one unimportant? It’s symbolic of the United States and our creativity, FIRE Bob Lutz !!!

In similar news, Lutz stated that providing quality and innovative design were also unimportant.
